Allendale, Michigan

Allendale is home of Grand Valley State University. GVSU started off as a small university but has grown a lot over the years. When Attorney Shawn Haff graduated from GVSU in 1998, the campus was much smaller in Allendale and the campus in Grand Rapids was also a lot smaller. That is not the case now. The amount of students who are going to GVSU has increased by the thousands since 1998. With the increase of students at GVSU, the amount of crime in Allendale has increased.

GVSU has an excellent Political Science Department. Attorney Shawn Haff has got his political science degree from GVSU in 1998. Shawn also has a legal studies degree and a minor in history from Grand Valley State University.

Judge Mulder has a reputation for being a fair judge. She is a welcome addition to the judicial branch. She is a huge improvement over the previous judge at Hudsonville district court. The previous person on the bench of Kenneth Post. He ruled that court like it was his own personal kingdom and he ruled it with a harsh hand. As I mentioned earlier, Judge Mulder is a huge improvement and a fair judge.  However, you should never face any criminal charges without an attorney from The Criminal Defense Law Center of West Michigan on your side!  Attorney Shawn Haff lives only five minutes away from this district court. He went to High School at Hudsonville. He knows this courthouse intimately. Attorney Shawn Haff and his team of Allendale Criminal Defense Attorneys will get you the best results possible!

Shawn has watched people hurt themselves at this courthouse by not having a lawyer by their side. Do not go with a court appointed attorney!  At this court, you will be your arraignment first. This is where you need to enter a not guilty plea, not matter what the charge is or regardless of guilt.  By entering a not guilty plea, an attorney can fight for a reduced charge or a guarantee of no jail. If you do not have a lawyer by your side at the first court date which is the arraignment, you will have to face a tough Ottawa County Prosecutor by yourself! Do you really think  you can negotiate with them? Call Shawn instead at 616-438-6719! Our Allendale Criminal Defense Attorneys will get you the best results possible.

Possession of these drugs is a felony in Michigan. The Criminal Defense Law Center of West Michigan believes that the last place for somebody with a drug problem is prison. However, the Michigan legislature, West Michigan Courts, and prosecutor’s seem to think the best place for someone with drug issues is behind bars. Our Allendale Criminal Defense Attorneys and Lawyers will fight to keep you out of jail!

Categorizing drugs within different classes is one of the many things the Legislature utilizes to continue justifying extreme punishments for drug-related crimes. In all West Michigan courts, drugs are categorized into different classes called schedules. Schedule one drugs are considered the “worst drugs” and schedule five drugs are considered the least likely for abuse. In making the determination of what drugs belongs in what category, the legislature is supposed to analyze a drug’s actual or relative potential for abuse, it’s pharmacological effect, the history and pattern of abuse, the risk to public health, and the potential of the substance to product psychic or physiological dependence.

The reality of this analysis is that the Legislatures make decisions like marijuana being categorized as a schedule one controlled substance, sharing space with other narcotics, such as heroin. Other schedule one narcotics include Ecstasy, Codeine, Cat, Heroin, Mescaline, Peyote, Psilocyn (mushrooms) Qat, and Marijuana. Schedule two drugs include Cocaine, Opium, Amphetamines, and Methadone.
